Howdy.
My girlfriend directed me to your comic after seeing it mentioned in a LiveJournal community. I’ve read all the comic pages available so far, along with the “About” page, and have this to say:
1. After reading the “About” page, I have a LITTLE bit more of an idea of what the point of this comic is. But I’m still left wondering (and not in an excited, expectant way) whither it’s going, what the point is, and where the humor is.
2. Even if you don’t do anything about the small handful of questionable bits of punctuation, something ought to be done about the misspellings. Maybe it’s meant as a manifestation of Da Beaver’s being “non-smart”; but it comes across as nothing but an unfunny distraction.
3. But don’t take the criticism too harshly, and do stick with your project. There’s definitely potential here.
I don’t consider myself some god among critics of comics, and it’s perfectly fine with me that some comics will be more amusing to others than to me. Still, I think you’ve a greater chance at success if readers, after four pages of your work, aren’t left scratching their heads and thinking “Uhhhh. Hm. O.K. Well, I thought it was going to be kind of cool. There’s nothing extremely sucky about it, although not even spelling basic words right is annoying. But what’s the point? And how is this supposed to be funny? What’s it all about? Where’s this going? Well, maybe I’ll check back again in a few weeks and see whether it’s improved … if I remember to. Then again, the update schedule given in ‘About’ isn’t even being maintained …”
Just my opinion. I looked at the comic on two different days, a few days apart, just in case something unusual was keeping me from ‘getting it’ the first time around. Two of my friends have opinions similar to mine about your comic. Anyway, I write all of this only to try to be constructive; I don’t mean anything cruel.
